We’ve all heard star athletes declare, “I’m going to Disneyland!” after winning the big game. It’s no different with Michael Phelps, the record-setting gold medal winner. He also made a trip to Magic Kingdom Orlando.
This wasn’t the first trip to Disney World for Michael Phelps after an Olympics. Disney World and Disneyland both honored him after the 2004 Olympics.
In typical Disney style, Phelps was honored in a confetti, flag-waving, all-American parade.
Phelps said of the event:
I am so happy to celebrate here and see some of the fans who supported me. It’s great to feel so much excitement around the sport of swimming in the U.S. and around the world. To top it all off with a parade at Disney World is just incredible.
You will soon be able to read about Michael Phelps‘ trip to Magic Kingdom Orlando on Facebook, where he has one of the biggest followings with 1.5 “fans”.

Forbes contains an Associated Press article today that announces Disney will have a Disney-themed children’s hospital.
This hospital’s name will be Disney Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital.
For patients, the hospital will have sophisticated, interactive tecnology and advanced, minimally invasive surgery.
This is great news. Anything that can help lessen the scariness of hospital stays for children is a welcome improvement.
Also, the hospital will open in the not too distant future: 2010.

It seems that everyone wants to get in on the mobile revolution that has taken, including Magic Kingdom Orlando.
Folks, and kids, are spending less and less time in front of the old boob tube. But they’re not decreasing their screen time. More people are spending time with their mobile devices.
Wired Magazine is reporting on its blog that Disney is going to go after to the 9- to 14-year-old demographic with their latest quest at gaining mobile popularity.
This age group will be able to download ringtones and wallpapers directly to their cellphones.
Mini-games, like Pirates of Caribbean, will also be available.
Is this a good idea?
Some hate the idea of marketing to pre-teens. But it really is a good move for Disney to target this demographic.

For some, Tinker Bell has been without a voice for much too long. But not anymore. Magic Kingdom Orlando is banking on the idea that Fairies can be as big as Princesses have been for Disney.
According to the Seattle Times, the princess merchandise “is expected to generate worldwide retail sales in excess of $4 billion this year.”
$4 BILLION! Wow!
In order to capitalize on Tinker Bell’s popularity, Disney, in cooperation with Pixar, commissioned the release of four straight-to-DVD films.
At the website DisneyFairies.com, children have already created more than 6 million fairies.
It looks like Disney may have another moneymaker here. If the fairies prove to be as successful as Disney hopes, then you’ll be sure to see parks like Magic Kingdom Orlando follow with merchandise and perhaps attractions.

The gas crunch has hit everyone’s pockets. Even some Magic Kingdom Orlando resorts are feeling the pinch. In order to offset some of the lose, two resorts will randomly pick a guest Monday (today, I think) to receive a gas rebate of $1 for every mile driven round trip.
Unfortunately, it’s only available to Florida residents. But still…
A guest driving to the resort from South Florida could potentially pocket up to $800, according to the company.
To top it off, they’re going to give this gas away each week through Labor Day. According to my calculations, that’s only one more week after this one.
Florida residents - start your engines. Get down to Magic Kingdom Orlando for your free gas. On week to go.

Taking the kids next month and wanted someone who has been to give advice on how to make the most of the time we have there without wearing the kids out!!!
There is so much to do while you are there. You really should go to all the parks, I'm not sure of the kids ages. Magic Kingdom is the best place for younger kids because of rides. It is a lot fun. Most places will tell you when you get in the park to go left. Most people will go right, going this way will take you with the crowd and lines will be longer. So you will be in the reverse of everyone else. There are a lot of great character opportunities in the park, great pictures and the kids love it. I also highly recommend taking a camcorder. My parents had one for my first trip to Disney and it is priceless to me and my family now. It is the best way to keep the memory with you forever.
Try to see the fireworks and parades. The kids will be amazed. They are both beautiful. The kids may not be able to stay up for the fireworks, because they are before closing. Sometimes it is a good idea to take a break in mid day or so to get a quick nap in, it really helps. You could also go back to the park to catch the fireworks if they are unable to stay the whole day.
A few character meals would also be great for the kids. This allows them to interact a little more with the characters and spend a little more time with them rather than visiting them at a character meet where there is only time for a picture and autograph.
Two things you definately want to take advantage of is early entry days and fast pass. Early entry gets you in the park before other guests, if you are staying on property. This is for a different park each morning. Fast pass is something Disney offers to help with the time of waiting in line. You put your tickets in the fast pass machine and it will give you another ticket, one for each ticket. This will give you a time frame to come back when you will go in the fast pass line and not have to wait in the regular line. Saves a ton of time and definately worth doing.
If your kids hate waiting in lines, you may want to consider this as well. Sometimes parents will bring activities for the kids to do while in line. Something little that isn't hard to bring with you and will keep them occupied. This will make it nicer on you as well.
As I mentioned, Magic Kingdom is definately the best park for the little ones. Animal Kingdom is also really great for younger kids. There are a few rides that they will really like, as well as shows, plus they can see the animals, which is always a lot of fun. MGM and EPCOT also have some great rides, but these are usually for a little bit bigger rider, the rides are a little more rough than the other parks, but still great to visit.
Go online and do your research. Look at all the parks to get an idea of what you want to do. This will give you a good idea of which parks are best for your family, where you want to dine, etc. If you want actual books to take, Passporter and Birnbaums are great books to use. They have a ton of information and are really helpful.
I use this site http://mousetrips.com/ for all of my information and to book my trips. It is a good source of information for your trips.
Downtown Disney is also a great place to visit. There is a lot of shopping and some really good places to eat. This is where you will find the huge World of Disney store which has tons of things to purchase and always fun to stop in. They also have the Lego store, really great for the little ones, Once Upon a Toy, etc. Disney Quest and Cirque are also in Downtown Disney. I love Disney Quest, this is the indoor virtual reality theme park. Cirque is a really amazing show. I was just in disbelief every time I have seen it. Disney says to judge whether or not your kids will be able to sit through it, is to judge on a movie. If your kids can sit through a movie in the theater they should have a good time at the show. However, this is something a little older children and adults like more than kids. This is also a good night for just mom and dad. Have a nice dinner at one of the Downtown restaraunts, Wolfgang and Fultons are always a good choice, then go to the Cirque show afterwords. It's a good time to take advantage of Disney baby sitting and a good time for mom and dad to have time together.
If you haven't booked yet you really should do this as soon as possible. The big trips I plan to Disney are book about 6 months in advance. This will allow time for the most availability and most likliness I will get the resort, etc. I am wanting. I always stay on property, definately the best way to go. Free transportation to parks. Great prices on tickets, less expensive than getting them at the gate, huge savings. Also you can add on the dining plan. Another great way to save some money. It's also a good idea to book dining ahead of time. Otherwise you may have really long waits or not be able to get to the restaraunts you want to eat at.
Have a great time and enjoy the trip. Take lots of pictures!

Thousands of chiropractors will converge on the Magic Kingdom Orlando in November. The gathering, dubbed the SuperConference, is designed to help chiropractors of The Masters Circle to drive revenue and increase their practices.
Bob Hoffman, the president of the Masters Circle, said:
“[The] SuperConference is for anyone who wishes to embrace the science, art, and philosophy of chiropractic.”
If you’re a chiropractor, I would look into this conference as an option for this years training. You may be able to deduct your trip to the Magic Kingdom Orlando on your taxes.

Coriander Crusted Pork Loin Potatoes, Mushrooms and Brie Frizee Lettuce with Vinaigrette
Vinaigrette
Ingredients:
2 large sweet onions
1 cup olive oil
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1 1/2 lbs. fingerling
potatoes
5 tbs. butter
2 tbs. kosher salt
1 tbls. cracked black
pepper
1 tbs. coriander
2 lbs. pork loin
4 oz. shitake mushrooms,
quartered
4 oz. portobello
mushrooms, cubed
1 cup cremini mushrooms,
quartered
2 tbls. canola oil
1 head frizee lettuce
8 oz. brie cheese
Method:
Peel onions and cut in half through root. Slice the onions into1/4-inch rings. Sauté in 1/4 cup of the olive oil, over medium-high heat, until onions are brown in color.
While onions are sautéing, place the vinegar in a saucepot and reduce by two-thirds or until there is approximately 3 tablespoons, remaining; set aside when finished.
Cut each potato into thirds and then toss in another ¼ cup of the olive oil. Roast in 350 degree oven until the potatoes are brown and tender.
Brown 2 tablespoons of the butter by placing in a frying pan and quickly cooking over high heat until it literally starts to turn brown - then immediately pour into a metal container to cool down and hold.
Next, mix the coriander, salt and pepper and rub all over the pork loin. Then, in an oven-proof frying pan with 2 tablespoons of the remaining olive oil, brown the pork loin all around and place in a preheated 400 degree oven.
Next, sauté the mushrooms in 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, over high heat, making sure that the mushrooms are golden brown.
For the vinaigrette: Pour the reduced vinegar into a mixing bowl and, with a whisk, slowly add 2 tsp. of the butter and season with additional salt and pepper.
Cut the bottom off the frizee lettuce and wash and dry thoroughly. Toss with the vinaigrette.
Cube the brie into half inch by half-inch pieces and toss with the potatoes and mushroom.
To place, slice the pork loin. Ladle some of the onion puree into the center of a plate, pile some of the potato mixture just to the back of the plate, and lay the sliced pork against the potatoes. Garnish with a small bunch of the frieze on top.
